The Mine Managers house is situated on 2,960 square metres of land having unobstructed views towards the central park land, sports oval, swimming pool, tennis courts and bowling greens. The house which was designed for the tropics is elevated on 2.4 metre high concrete piers and is 30.25 metres in length, with timber stud framed walls sheeted with asbestos cement. The roof trusses and battens are all timber and constructed in a way to reduce material usage and the roof is sheeted with corrugated iron.
The building has five upstairs bedrooms and staff/maids live-in quarters downstairs. It was designed and positioned to make full use of the prevailing winds and ventilation is aided by numerous large louvred windows. Large overhanging vented eaves and gable air vents expel warm air from inside the roof. A downstairs bathroom serviced the staff/maids quarters while upstairs bathrooms and toilets are positioned at each end of the house between the bedrooms. The building is accessed by split level front and rear stairs. The stairs were originally timber but at some time were replaced with steel.
